Duval Dems Chair Applauds Lawsuit Challenging City Council Maps

In response to the expected filing of a lawsuit challenging Jacksonville City Council’s gerrymandered maps, Duval County Democratic Party Chair Daniel Henry released the following statement:

JACKSONVILLE, FL — “I applaud the parties that will file a redistricting lawsuit, challenging Jacksonville’s city council maps. From the beginning, the party has advocated for fair maps that protect the rights of residents to have a voice in their local government.

“City Council, however, chose to silence those voices with racially gerrymandered maps that dilute the voting power of African Americans and perpetuates another decade of disenfranchisement. Their actions, intended or not, can not stand.”
