In response to Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson being sworn into the Supreme Court, Duval County Democratic Party released the following statement:
JACKSONVILLE, FL — ”Duval Dems are celebrating the ascension of the Honorable Kentanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
“The ascension of Justice Jackson is a milestone of progress for our country. Her dedication to public service, commitment to criminal justice reform, and the Constitution will ensure all Americans’ accessibility to equal justice under the law.
“From the recent majority opinion on women’s reproductive healthcare to the possibility of overturning contraception access and marriage equality, the high court is in a dark and worrisome place. We have no doubt that Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson will be a guiding light to the court into a new era where some of her colleagues seem determined to tear down individual liberty and freedoms of Americans.”
