Duval Dems Chair Applauds Injunction Blocking Congressional Map

In response to Circuit Judge Layne Smith’s preliminary injunction blocking Florida’s congressional maps, the Duval County Democratic Party Chair Daniel Henry released the following statement:

JACKSONVILLE, FL — “We applaud Judge Smith’s preliminary injunction that blocks Governor DeSantis’s gerrymandered congressional map. This ruling reaffirms our belief that the Florida GOP attempted to diminish African Americans’ voting rights.

“While the case moves through the appellate process, we call for swift review by the Florida Supreme Court to ensure the voting rights of Congressional District 5’s residents are not irreparably harmed.”
